In this body of work, I capture the vibrant colors, textures, and lively atmosphere of Rome, where I studied abroad. By incorporating my figure into some paintings, I document my experience of stepping out of my comfort zone into a new culture. Through oil painting exercises, I focused on architectural elements, nature, and the city’s dynamic movement. I hope to share this unique experience with you through my colorful paintings.

I chose Wayne Thiebaud for my master study because I was interested in his process of layering color to create vibrancy and glow. The second portrait is a detailed reproduction of Thiebaud's "Girl with Pink Hat." The first painting is a self portrait I created using the same techniques as the master's painting. I learned to balance neutral skin tones with vibrant hues.
